Debbie Fleming has been Joint Chief Executive for both Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust since January 2019, and is currently leading these two organisations towards merger. Having been a chief executive for 19 years, Debbie has gained significant experience in managing large-scale strategic change - both within the acute sector and in leading a number of commissioning organisations. Much of her experience was gained at the time of the 2013 NHS reorganisation, when as PCT Cluster Chief Executive (and later Area Director for NHS England) she was responsible for setting up the new "NHS architecture" in Wessex. In recent years, she has been leading Poole Hospital in very challenging times, working with partners to take forwards the recommendations of the Dorset Clinical Services Review.
Debbie has always been interested in developing people - both individually and in teams - so that they can maximise their potential and perform to the very highest standards. She is a trained coach and facilitator, and was formerly Chair of the Thames Valley and Wessex Leadership Academy.
