Chief Executive, Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust

Bob is the Chief Executive of the Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust, a specialist teaching and research hospital in London.  The Trust is Europe’s largest, heart and lung hospital and has been designated as a Biomedical Research Unit by the UK National Institute for Health Research.  Bob became Chief Executive in March, 2005 and is a founding member and Board director of the Imperial College Health Partners and Academic Health Sciences Network and is on the Board of the Institute of Cardiovascular Medicine and Science and the Imperial College Academic Health Sciences Centre.  He is a Visiting Professor of Imperial College, London with the Institute of Global Health Innovation.  He is also currently Chairman of the Association of UK University Hospitals.​

​Prior to coming to the UK, Bob was the President & CEO of William Osler Health Centre in Toronto.  He started his career at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto and for many years was the National Partner leading the healthcare and public sector practices at Ernst & Young and KPMG in Canada early on in his career, based at the Toronto and Ottawa offices.  He previously served with the Ontario Ministry of Health and the Management Board of Cabinet.  He has also held senior executive positions in private hospital management, construction and development in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.​​

Bob is a graduate of the University of Toronto and Queen’s University and has completed executive management training at Cornell University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the USA.  He has lived and worked in the UK; Canada; Saudi Arabia and The Lebanon.  He is a dual Canadian and British Citizen.
